1 Bakker, Gijs Gijs Bakker: About the Holes Project
Self-published 1993 First Edition Wraps As Issued Fine Issued Without Jacket Book
Self-published, with help from Helen Drutt and others, 1993. Catalogue for an exhibition of this Dutch designer's work at the Galerie Spektrum in Munich, the Galerie Ra in Amsterdam, the Marijke Studio Padova in Milan, and at the Helen Drutt Gallery in Philadelphia in 1993-4. Bakker's design for chair full of holes for a competition led him to experiment with other forms with holes, including tables, decorative objects, and jewelry, shown here in 13 black and white images. Good interview by Renny Ramakers. Oh, and the catalogue has holes in it too. Fine in wraps as issued.

3 Becker, Friedrich New Gold, Silver, Jewels, Industrial Design By Friedrich Becker of Dusseldorf
London The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths 1966 First Edition Stiff Wraps Near-Fine Issued Without Jacket Book
Catalogue for an exhibition held October 4-19, 1966. In the Introduction, Graham Hughes, the Company's art director, admires Becker's "perfect" workmanship and use of "regular carefully polished stones": "Not for him the romantically natural finish, the casual effects derived from action painting, the delightful rough crystals which are fashionable today," which tells us where the Company was at in the Sixties, as well as something about what was happening to jewelry design and other arts at that time. In addition to Becker's wonderfully sculptural rings and jewelry, there are examples of his tableware and his actual sculpture, including a spectacular metal fountain. All black and white plates (about 45 pages of them), highly suitable. Text in English and German. Near-Fine in stiff wraps with light soiling to corners and page edges.

4 Blomdahl, Sonja Sonja Blomdahl: Incalmo/Glass
Montgomery, AL Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts 2007 First Edition Stiff Wraps in Paper Jacket Near-Fine Issued Without Jacket Book
68-page catalogue for an exhibition held in Montgomery May 12-July 1, 2007, and then traveled to Michigan, Arkansas, and Washington State, where it can be seen until January 2009. There is a fine essay by Susanne K. Frantz, a statement by the artist, a resume, and a checklist, but the wow is the color plates, which I hope do justice to Blomdahl's vibrant glass pieces. While the shapes vary very little, the color range is spectacular. In Fine stiff wraps as issued; the opaque paper jacket is torn at the cutout (easily repaired).
