2 Armstrong, Richard Alexis Smith [1991]
New York Whitney Museum of American Art/Rizzoli 1991 First Edition Hardcover Fine Fine Book
244-page catalogue of the Whitney's big retrospective show of Smith's work, the first. She interned with Frank Gehry, remember, and she's an L.A. woman: the result is a lifelong dedication to the peculiar detritus of popular culture in her environment. Part assemblage, part collage, part sculpture, definitely part installation-it's all a kick with a serious mind behind it. Fine hardcover in Fine dust jacket.
