1 The Hanging Floating and Cantilevered Show
New York John Gibson Gallery 1967 First Edition Cardstock Near-Fine Issued Without Jacket Ephemera
When the Gallery was at 27 E. 67th Street, New York, Gibson issued this 3 ¼" x 5 ½" invitation postcard to the very first Gibson exhibition (verified by the man himself), described on the card as "an aerial perspective of sculpture by Andre, Christo, de Suvero/ Grosvenor, Judd, Lewitt/ Morris, Myers, Oldenburg, Smithson, Snelson, Warhol. The card is addressed to the artist Philip Pavia and postmarked 1967. The address has been crossed out and corrected in pencil; the card is slightly discolored to the edges, but overall in near-Fine condition. Unique-and I rarely get to say that-and practically a snapshot of the year all by itself.

9 Howard Wise Gallery Billy Apple: UFOs (Unidentified Fluorescent Objects)
New York Howard Wise Gallery 1967 First Edition Fine Issued Without Jacket Ephemera
Folded poster/announcement for U.F.O.'s (Unidentified Fluorescent Objects (Howard Wise Gallery, November 11-December 2). 13" x 17" black poster with white type and images of 7 of the "objects", which were neon sculptures. On the address side of this self-mailer, someone has written "Billy Apple/UFO'S/Nov 67". This is certainly a very early Apple show in New York, predating his involvement with The Factory and his installation work. The poster is as collectible for its association with Howard Wise, whose early interest in art and technology and video-as-art is now legendary, and whose gallery was not open for long. In Fine condition, with faint wear to folds.

10 Howard, Barbara and Martha Hawley Installation/Index
Amsterdam, Holland 1981 First Edition Stiff Card Wraps Fine Issued Without Jacket Book
20-page booklet, probably the only documentation of this event. The text of the booklet, accompanied by thumbnails, is a glossary, with terms ranging from Abstract to Zen-like, all of which refer to the installation project, for which this is, of course, the index. Fine condition on coated stock as issued. A scarce find of the highly ephemeral material from the period.

11 Life Magazine [Margaret Bourke-White] We Want to Do a Story on Strategic Air Command
New York Life Magazine 1950 First Edition Paper Near-Fine Issued Without Jacket Ephemera
"We want to do a story on Strategic Air Command", a 10-1/2" x 14" promotional piece, presumably directed at advertisers, from Life Magazine in advance of the appearance of the story in an August 1951 issue. Tricky 8 pages with the two inner pages folded in half so that an extra four half-pages appear. Very little text, but lots of pictures by MB-W who is quoted as calling this "the most thrilling assignment of [her] life" and whose description of what the assignment felt like appears in large type and small detail. She appears, suitably attired, in a number of the shots. A curious piece in near-Fine condition with light wear to corners.

Los Angeles Dwan Gallery 1969 First Edition Paper Near-Fine Issued Without Jacket Ephemera
Large poster for a Dwan Gallery (NY) show held November 1-27, 1969. This one doesn't direct viewers to steal anything, but does advise them to "think of your breathing when looking at or reading the above statement", which was "I have not yet decided whether or not to advertise my New York show". One space deliberately left blank. Printed in black "typewriter" type on silver paper, folded in eighths. Just beginning to tear at one edge, but otherwise Fine.

17 O'Keeffe, Georgia Georgia O'Keeffe: Paintings 1946-1950
New York An American Place 1950 First Edition Wraps As Issued Near-Fine Issued Without Jacket Book
For the obsessive collector, a 4-page catalogue from an American Place exhibition organized by O'Keeffe herself and held October 16-November 25, 1950, stamped by the MOMA Library. According to a line in the catalogue, this was" the last exhibition to be held at an American Place"-arguable, since the previous "last" featured Arthur Dove's paintings and was held while Stieglitz was still alive. In near-Fine condition on fragile-feeling paper that nonetheless has an aura.
