14 Carin Goldberg Catalog
New York Stewart, Tabori & Chang 2001 1st Edition Hardcover Fine Issued Without Jacket Book
68-page artist's book, designed by Goldberg using the images in an early 1950s mail order catalogue she found. The objects (many of them women's undergarments) are captioned only with their catalogue numbers and reproduced in their original colors. One can see why Goldberg, a graphic designer, was attracted to these images, the typography, and the design of the catalogue. The front endpaper consists of the brand logos found in the catalogue; the rear endpaper reproduces part of its index and the rear free endpaper its order form. Fascinating. Fine in hardcover, with ISBN number on metal plate to front; issued without dust jacket.

London The Victoria and Albert Museum 1996 First Edition Stiff Wraps As Issued Fine Issued Without Jacket Book Daniel McGrath [photography]
Big, very colorful catalogue for a V & A exhibition which is great fun to look through, but can street style be museumized? Meticulous annotation of the fashions shown seems a little farcical after about 20 pages, but still, the exhibition and perhaps this catalogue are now part of the history of material culture, so let's enjoy our artifacts while we have them. Fine in stiff wrraps as issued.
