882 Henfrey, Arthur [editor] The Journal of The Photographic Society of London... [Facsimilie edition]
London The Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain 1976 Facsimile Edition Hard Cover Near-Fine  Issued Without Jacket
Facsimile of Volume I, Number 1 (March 3, 1853) through No. 19 [June 30, 1854]. 234 pages, with no photographs, but a number of diagrams, reflecting the Society's prevailing interest in the science; few people had cottoned onto the art in the 1850s, although Sir William Newton had postulated a separate "path" for the emerging field. While you wouldn't think the minutes and correspondence of a Royal Society could do anything but help you doze off, consider that these men, for they were nearly all men, were in at the beginning, and were explorers in their way. 891 Heyman, Abigail Dreams and Schemes: Love and Marriage in Modern Times
New York Aperture 1987 First Edition Hard Cover Fine Near-Fine
The title makes clear the photographer's subject of this 111-page book, but may not prepare you for the images she caught on a very wide variety of wedding days-I'm particularly fond of the toddler having a tantrum surrounded by bridesmaids not lifting a finger and the seated smokers. I could wish that Heyman had refrained from sprinkling quotes about L and M around-the images speak more directly and profoundly than, even, GB Shaw. Ah, well. Fine hardcover binding in near-Fine dust jacket just beginning to tone at the spine and rear cover.

New Haven Yale Univerity Press 2010 First Edition Hard Cover Fine Fine
256-page monograph published to coincide with the artist's first major retrospective, which originated at the Addison Gallery of American Art. As essays by Joan Simon, Susan C. Faxon, and Whitney Chadwick attest, fifty years is a long time to be innovative, yet Hicks has managed to take on miniatures and huge public commissions, to stick with her textile work and so make it interesting again, and to be a genuinely "global" force in art. Fine in Fine dust jacket and publisher's shrink wrap.

896 Higgins, E.F. Mail Art Artistamps
Doo-Dah Post 1978 First Edition Paper Fine  Issued Without Jacket Ephemera E.F. Higgins
Sheet of 16 gummed and perforated stamps, all different in design, executed in Higgins's typical bright colors and stark color Xerox texture on the subject of solar energy: some have denominations (50, 100, 25, 75), most refer to "Sun Day" (one refers to Solar Energy Day and another to "Solar Collector Issue") or to the dates May3-6, 1978 (although one stamp reads "May 3-8, 1978), and one has ©DOO-DA POST '78 in the upper right corner. The appearance of these stamps, and their availability for sale at the Truman Gallery in N.Y. was announced in the May 1978 issue of Umbrella (see below). In addition, two blank DOO-DA orange postcards: both are stamped with "3 p" (penny) denomination DOO-DA stamps in different abstract designs; the stamps are cancelled with the cancellation stamp of Jones & Russell's Pikes Peak Express Co., Denver City, dated Oct 6 1859. Interestingly, Jones and Russell's of Denver City is a real company: a pair of their 3-cent strikes, one of which was dated 1859, recently sold at auction for more than $375.00. Margin of stamp sheet missing in one clearly torn 2-inch strip not affecting stamp; perfs are ripped , again cleanly, between two stamps, which are not separated from the sheet. Postcards are in Fine condition with no flaws. Sold as a lot.
