Barthelme, Donald [essay] She New York Cordier & Ekstrom 1970 First Edition Wraps As Issued Very Good Issued Without Jacket Ex-Library 32-page catalogue with a lovely, very 70s, introductory essay by Donald Barthelme ("Woman is an imaginary being...a concatenation of ideas about woman"), illustrated with 27 plates (4 in color, tipped in) showing modern and ancient concatenations by Duchamp, Steinberg, Lindner (one of the tipped in color plates, of course), Bearden, de Kooning, Noguchi, Dubuffet, Matisse, Hirshfield, Man Ray, Magritte and others. The ancient pieces range in age from a Cycladic figure dated ca 2500 B.C. to a 16th century French bust, and come from Nigeria, India, Mali, Egypt, China, and elsewhere. Withdrawn from the library of the Brooklyn Museum, this copy is blind-stamped to the title page, has discreet identifying data handwritten to top corner of front cover, light overall edge-wear and soil from handling, but is otherwise in Very Good condition.
