New York Museum of Modern Art 1942 First Edition Hard Cover Near-Very Good  Lacking the Dust Jacket 
In this, Miller's first edited catalogue and first "organized" show, she picked Darrel Austin, Hyman Bloom, Raymond Breinin, Samuel Cashwan, Francis Chapin, Emma Lu Davis, Morris Graves, Joseph Hirsch, Donal Hord, Charles Howard, Rico Lebrun, Jack Levine, Helen Lundeberg, Fletcher Martin, Octavio Medellin, Knud Merrild, Mitchell Siporin, and Everett Spruce. In her introduction, Miller announced her intent to find "new" artists and those whose work has not been shown much in New York, as well as her reliance on her husband's WPA job. 2 copies of this catalogue are available, both in hardcover without jackets; one has had more wear, particularly to the spine ends and folds, edges, and corners, than the other. MoMA Bulletin XXVI (3), Spring 1959. Catalogue for a traveling show in which Miller had a part. Illustrated are Baskin's Laureate Standing, Dehner's Rites at Sal Safaeni Number 2, Nakian's Rape of Lucretia I, de Rivera's Construction 56, a Rivers Head, and Zajac's Easter Goat, among others. This copy, in wraps, Very Good to near-Fine, with light wear and sunning to spine fold.

This landmark show was curated by Dorothy C. Miller and William Lieberman, and the catalogue is now a classic, 118 pages, fully illustrated. Includes color photographs of Domoto, Tanaka, Kikuhata, Kojima, and many others, some of whom were in the Gutai group, including Atsuko Tanaka, alone among the men, and one of the few who smiled for her picture. Pictures and brief biographies of the artists. Near-Fine in stiff wraps as issued.
