1 Duncan, David Douglas David Douglas Duncan: Un Jardin Secret: Photographe De l'Imagination
Self-published 1992 First Edition Hardcover Fine Fine Book
Basically, Duncan shot the work of whimsical sculptor Andre Villers outdoors in someone's garden (there are photographs of him doing that). Brilliant color, funny figures making funny faces and…it takes a while to get the in-joke…most of the figures are holding cameras (!). Fun and games on the Cote d'Azur, with sly Picasso references thrown in. Duncan designed, edited, wrote, produced, and published this book himself, according to the colophon page. As if that weren't enough, the book is stamped "From the library of David Douglas Duncan/Castellasas Le Vieux" on the half-title page; over that stamp is another: "Withdrawn", and under the library stamp are his initials, apparently in marker. What to make of it? Text, what there is, in French. Fine in hardcover with Fine dust jacket.

2 Duncan, David Douglas [editor] Magic Worlds of Fantasy
New York Harcourt Brace Jovanovich 1978 First Edition, 2nd Printing Hardcover Fine Fine Book
The work of four "fantasy hobbyists" (really)-Dorle Lindner, Dr. Oscar Forel, Hsueh Shao-Tang, and Ariane-that caught DDD's eye over the years. Oh, and he has thrown in an eight-page supplement he calls "Souvenirs of a Magic World" that consists of stuff Picasso gave him out of friendship. In my mind, borders on a flimsy rationale for a whole book, but the work of the hobbyists, probably folk artists, is interesting. Text in English. Fine hardcover binding in Fine dust jacket.

4 Duncan, David Douglas Prismatics: Exploring a New World
New York Harper & Row 1972 First Edition Stated Hardcover Fine Near-Fine Book Signed by Photographer
If not the most prolific producer of photography books, Duncan is certainly up in the top ten. This volume demonstrates what happens when familiar subjects (Paris, Picasso) are shot with prisms and specialty lenses, and includes a full technical explanation at the rear. This copy has Duncan's elaborate library stamp to the first free endpaper and is signed with his initials beneath. Fine hardcover binding in near-Fine dust jacket with light corner wear and slight lifting of edges.
