1 Schaff, David That Red Head Gal: Fashions and Designs of Gordon Conway 1916-1936
Washington DC American Institute of Architects Foundation 1980 First Edition Wraps As Issued Near-Fine Issued Without Jacket Book
48-page catalogue for an exhibition held in Washington, D.C., May 16-July 20, 1980, and thereafter at the Dallas Historical Society, the Chicago Society, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Gordon was a woman, designing for and illustrating women at a particular time in history, and like that old Jazz Age cliche, she burned brightly and then faded. Her posters, advertising, and film, theatre, and fashion designs are so emblematic of the age, however, that it's hard to believe there hasn't been a revival. Most of her fashion work appeared in "Eve" and "The Tatler"; she was based in Europe during the latter part of her career when her emphasis was on fashion. Some designs--such as the one for a Red Cross poster--are laughable now, but soooo Twenties. 20 color plates (and color cover), plus more sketches and photographs in black and white. Near-Fine with light wear to edges in wraps as issued.
