Kahn, Tobi and Pat Steir Landscape at the Millennium: Installations By Tobi Kahn and Pat Steir; 19th Century Works from the Parrish Art Museum and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery Buffalo NY Albright-Knox Art Gallery 2000 First Edition, Limited Wraps As Issued Fine Issued Without Jacket One of 600 copies printed, this 48-page catalogue documents yet another attempt to take a "fresh" look at the 19th century via juxtaposing the work of two contemporary abstract painters and of John Pfahl, a conceptual photographer if there ever was one. So, your Harts, your Ryders, your Innesses, your Chases, appeared in the same exhibition with Kahn's paintings (which at least have a horizon line) and Steir's exuberant squiggles and "paths". Pfahl, perhaps to no one's surprise, produced a couple of high-tech 19th century landscape photographs. Interviews with the artists and the curator, Douglas Dreishpoon. Fine in wraps as issued.
