This may be an artists' book, or just a book, but if it is an exhibition catalogue, there's no way to tell what the material looked like on display, which is what is so fascinating about it. Each page shows an extreme close-up of an object (a camera, a button, a telephone, a pencil) against a brilliant color background; on the facing page is the name of the object in 10 languages. At the rear of the book are several pages of thumbnail photographs of the objects, with cataloguing text (artist, date, and so on). That's it. All of the things are in the Museum's collection…somewhere, but they may not have been exhibited together at any one time. We can thank Thimo de Duits for the concept, and we do. Near-Fine in hardcover without dust jacket as issued: tiny ding to rear mid-spine covering.
