Published to accompany the exhibition at the Santa Monica Museum of Art held January 19-April 1, 1990. It's a great deal easier to describe this unusual catalgoue (incidentally, perhaps, INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY THE ARTIST) than Albuquerque's work, although the design of the object does relate. To say that Albuquerque is a mixed media artist is nearly to miss the point: her work is part performance, part installation, part construction, part assemblage. Occasionally, there appears a work on canvas. The catalogue helps: cutouts in front and back panels show off her striking use of color; a chronology as opposed to a biography outlines her travels, interactions with other artists, and other influences/inspirations; and an interview offers her own voice. You decide, but stay tuned. In folded card covers as issued with cutouts to front and back; corners slightly bent.
