Author Name Stark, Larry Title Monuments of the Western World Binding Unusual Book Condition Near-Fine Jacket Condition Issued Without Jacket Edition First Edition Publisher New York Addison Gallery of American Art 1975 Seller ID 2097 Exhibition catalogue, but in an unusual form: Eighteen 5" by 7" color photographs of bridges and freeway interchanges coast to American coast, together with a dedication card ("This is dedicated to the ones I love" - spot that reference?), a folded introductory essay by Thomas W. Leavitt, Director of Cornell's Johnson Museum of Art, a list of the venues for this exhibit during its 1976-77 travels, two statements by Stark, and a "glossary of terms", backed by a blank copyright page. The whole enclosed in an envelope printed with the title of the exhibition. Also laid in, two pages of "Official Larry Stark Propaganda" consisting of two sheets of ruled paper stapled together and rubber-stamped with slogans in various colors ("57 MUSEUM CURATORS CAN'T BE WRONG" and so on). A nifty little package, evocative of its time. The contents are in fine condition, thanks to the envelope, which has taken on light soil over time; the sealed flap is there but torn.
