Author Name Lewis, Mary E. And Dorothy Dignam Title The Marriage of Diamonds and Dolls, including the history of American Bridal Customs Binding Hard Cover Book Condition Fine Jacket Condition Near-Fine Edition First Edition Stated Publisher New York Lindquist 1947 Seller ID 2497 This is such a curious book, I had to include it. Why in a list of design and fine crafts titles? One answer is "for the diamonds alone"-the author has included a photograph of a wedding or engagement ring with each photograph of a bride doll, thus providing a convenient snapshot of the stones and settings that were popular in the 30s and 40s. For the fashion, too, although only the professionals among you will know what the time lag was between bridal fashion and regular fashion in the 40s. The extremely detailed information about bridal customs is a bonus that you may appreciate more than you think. This copy in a Fine hardcover binding with a near-Fine dust jacket (slightly off-white) in protective Mylar.
