A number of those pictured are self-portraits, including Beckmann's idea of himself as a sailor and others by de Chirico, Dali, Otto Dix, and Kahlo. There are intriguing contributions by Joseph Cornell (Garbo), Jo Davidson, Robert Henri, Joseph Hirsch, Lipchitz (of Marsden Hartley), Siqueiros, Sloan, others. Very interesting show, which included not only painting, but sculpture and photography as well. Covers are foxed, affecting the Picasso etching on the front a little; spine covering is lightly chipped and sunned.
