Steinhacker's photographs are insightful, if that can be applied to pictures of birches, waves, waterfalls, and similar stuff. A bonus is that the text is "drawn from the journals, diaries, and other writings of travelers to [the lake] in the years 1650 to 1880", so that the writing puts the reader in the picture in a different way. An additional bonus is that Steinhacker has written an extensive and highly personal signed inscription on the title page. Hardcover binding is about Very Good, with wear and light fraying to the spine ends, and sunning to edges and spine covering; lacking the sleeve.
