16-page presentation brochure produced by RCA to introduce Magictron, a corporate logo symbolizing "wireless in all its manifestations…an instantaneous visual all-encompassing dramatization of radio. television and electronics," in the words of John Vassos, the industrial designer, artist, illustrator, and writer who wrote the brochure and designed the object (photographed here, not incidentally, by Marthe Krueger). Vassos may be remembered for his instrumental role in establishing industrial design as a profession, his founding membership in the American Designers Institute, which later merged with other organizations to become The Industrial Designers Society of America. Illustrated with black and white photographs of Magictron (a flying figure) and sketches of other logos. In near-Fine condition: light soil to white covers and light toning to interior pages. A curious piece of ephemera of interest to collectors of corporate image material, early television, and industrial design.
